Maybe you remember the story nearly 10 years ago now about a guy who lose a ton of weight by eating at the Subway restaurant he lived above. But don't people tell you to avoid fast food?

Subway Is Not Junk Food

First of all, I don't work there or own a franchise or have any vested interest but the first thing that you can say about Subway is that they don't make junk food. On the whole, the food is pretty wholesome and the ingredients are fresh, as you can see before your very own eyes. Immediately the moment you decide not to eat any more junk in life, you will lose a lot of weight.

Portion Control

The other great thing about the "Subway Diet" is that the meal portions just happened to be perfect for the dieter. It's not like you can order a triple extra large sandwich from Subway. The portions just happen to be right - the correct amount of calories that you should eat.

This takes away some of the need to be careful about what you eat and calculate the calories.

The Calories Rule

The reason that this diet worked was simple. Forget about low carb or high protein or low fat diets. The rule of losing weight has only to do with calories and here's why.

If you eat more calories than your body needs, you will get fat.

If you eat less calories than your body needs, your body burns fat.

It's as simple as that and the guy who ate at Subway and lost a ton of weight basically obeyed this simple rule in a convenient framework.
